I was talking to a team of salesmen about voice modulation (rate, pitch and volume) and used this comment by Barry Goldwater about Hubert Humphrey as a speech opener and the analogy stuck instantly.

“Hubert Humphrey talks so fast that listening to him is like trying to read Playboy magazine with your wife turning over the pages !”

Talking of analogies, I can’t resist this one from Dorothy Parker, who once had to share a cramped office with a male colleague. and said“He and I had an office so tiny that an inch smaller and it would have been adultery.”
